Welcome ladies and gentleman to the main event of the week! In the category of Culinary Boxing here at Chef’s Mandala, we have weighing in at 1 pound from Lake Titicaca in Peru, please welcome Quinoa! His opponent, weighing in at less than an ounce from the islands of Japan, please welcome Fish Oil!
LET’S GET READY TO RRRRR…….HAVE A SPIRITED DEBATE ON FOOD!!!
In the Red Corner – QUINOA
This seed is a fan of the low oxygen, high altitude training that some boxers have used to improve their endurance before a fight! Rich in all the protein a body needs, quinoa is often mistaken for being a grain. The super food of the South American welterweight class, it has surged in price bringing newfound wealth to farmers throughout the region! Not since Al Capone’s Thanksgiving Day free turkeys has a rebel been so loved.
In the Blue Corner – FISH OIL
Our resident champion, fish oil has long been hailed as a great source of Omega 3 fatty acids. The champ has fought and won different types of high blood pressure, inflammation, mood disorders and heart disease! Whether it is a delicious sardine or lush fillet of salmon, fish oil is great in moderation. However recent accusations backed by medical research have begun to question fish oil’s track record against cancer. Arguments against taking more fish oil are often offset by concerns about the mercury content of many fish today.
FIGHT!!!
- The Play-By-Play
The two opponents start off strong, with fish oil being a bit too slippery for quinoa. But the high altitude training seems to be paying off, ohhhh, a knock out already!
AND THE WINNER IS….
Quinoa. There is no controversy surrounding this humble seed and it works much better as an ingredient then our now ex-champion ever will!
